 | Morning Star United Holy Church was founded in February 1967 by the late Bishop Irvin Evans, Sr. Following God’s plan, Morning Star was able to purchase the land surrounding the building (a library at the time) in 1973. In 1975, Bishop Evans was instructed and inspired by God to build a church. In 1978 a newly constructed Morning Star Holy Church was completed. | | | | Following substantial growth in membership and programs the church was expanded and a new $5 million dollar extension was added. The church’s name was changed to Morning Star Community Tabernacle (MSCT). | | | On July 25, 1999 after an extended illness, Bishop Evans appointed his son, Dr. Therman Evans, as pastor. Prior to this position, Dr. Evans served as an associate minister, assistant pastor and co-pastor. | | | | TODAY | Morning Star Community Tabernacle’s name was changed to Morning Star Community Christian Center, Inc. (MSCCC) in 2003. MSCCC is a 21st Century church with a 1st Century foundation. Pastor Evans oversees this non-denominational congregation, which presently consists of over 700 active members. | | | Morning Star is a Christian-based house of worship that provides education and training for those seeking to develop and enhance their skills; a house for healing and health for those who are addicted to illegal and legal substances; a center for community gatherings; a place of inspiration for the depressed and a source of relief and guidance for the clothless and jobless. Several community outreach ministries and faith-based programs have been developed under Pastor Evans’ leadership (see Ministries page). Pastor Evans delivers sermonic lessons and messages that encourage and instill hope, promote holistic and spiritual well-being, and individually and collectively uplift the environment, relationships and human conditions. |
