Morning Star Community Development Corporation (MSCDC) was incorporated in 2001 by Morning Star Community Christian Center (MSCCC) as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. MSCCC formed MSCDC to undertake economic development projects, as well as to help administer the social, health, cultural and education enrichment programs the church has been providing the community since its inception. MSCDC is organized to partner with government and private entities to leverage the church’s resources, experience and goodwill, to work and help redevelop the neighborhood, and improve the services available to the individuals and families who live therein. |

Morning Star Community Development Corporation touches the lives of countless individuals and families in the City of Linden, providing child and senior care, education, employment training, drug and alcohol abuse counseling, youth mentorship, free food and clothing programs for the needy. MSCCC formed the tax-exempt MSCDC in order to attract more resources, as well as improve its service delivery to the community it serves. |

MORNING STAR REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT |
MSCDC is the lead entity in the redevelopment on St. Georges Avenue. It is the basis of MSCCC’s track record and caliber of management that MSCDC was chosen by the City of Linden to spearhead the Morning Star Plaza project, which is also known by city ordinance as the "St. George Avenue Area Redevelopment Phase Two." |

Morning Star Plaza development will take up 2 blocks of vacant and derelict buildings and consolidate the land into a 3.2 acre community, commercial enterprise center. The Plaza will comprise of a two-winged 57,000 square foot building complex. The perimeter of the property will feature pedestrian friendly sidewalks and strategically placed park benches. A well-lit water fountain will sprout jets of rainbow colored misty water sprays under the plaza marquee accommodated just outside the plaza on East Baltimore Avenue and in the smaller commercial parking lots on St. Georges Avenue. The design aims to be attractive and appealing to the pedestrians, as well as to the motorists in the traffic that passes by. |

This project will benefit unemployed and under employed low income residents of the St. Georges and Baltimore Avenue area in the City of Linden and the state Urban Enterprise Zone of the Borough of Roselle. Targeted beneficiaries include at-risk youth, minimum wage workers, single parent households and unskilled workers. Gifted low-income residents who are craftsmen and those in need of an opportunity to start a business will also benefit from the project. 135 full-time jobs created by the plaza businesses, as well as additional part-time positions will be created as a result of the success of the businesses in the plaza. |

It is the goal of the City of Linden, working through Morning Star Community Development Corporation to restore the infra-structure that previously made the area a good residential neighborhood for families. |
